The kids went with my sister n law swimming so I actually got a couple hours. Ooooh I guess I could be cleaning, but who cleans on their only day off in 14 days? Not ME!!!!
I thought I would make a goals list.
1. Make and complete a goals list..
2. Set realistic times for each goal..
3. Decide where to start
4. What needs to be done in the kitchen
- Cubboards cleaned out and reorganized.
- Throw out old spices and donate can goods that have been in the kitchen for quite a while
- move items not used daily/weekly to the downstairs pantry
- Clean out snack cubboard and purchase/find some plastic ware with lids to keep snack cubboard food fresh for more than a few days (kids)
- Take down baking ware (as I don’t bake much anymore) and store it in the basement pantry
- Find a large bin to store dog food
- Go through the untensil drawer and donate and toss items we do not use, store seasonal items like kabob sticks etc
- Decide what works on the kitchen counters and what doesn’t, store or toss
- We have an island which I absolutely HATE, it does have electricity and we use the inside to store our kitchen pots and pans, but i hate it, id rather have a small tall round table in there to sit at. All it does is collect JUNK or my husband uses it to fold clothes and of course they sit there when we are working all these hours.
- I have tried a catch all basket, nice basket to catch all the stuff that gets tosed up on the counter, well its over running and looks bad.. Catch alls not a good idea? I guess it would be IF it was gone through once a week or every few days.. who has time?
- I have TWO junk drawers, holds are phone books and mail that comes in.. I hate it, but where do I put these things? I have a binder where my budgets are kept I guess i should get a pocket binder .. hmm idea and cheap too.
- I need see thru plastic ware big enough to hold school supplies, this time of the year i buy enough paper, folders, pencils for the WHOLE year and its quite a load but its cheap and where do I put it? ANywhere i can shove it.. Plastic ware would be a great idea then i could store it in my linen closet or in my laundry room cubboards? Where would you store it?
- I really need to wash dishes in my cubbords, we use a lot of paper products, they are probably needing a good scrubbing.
- Dining room, ok this is where i have my table and 4 chairs, one chair sits along the wall because there are 5 of us, but i like to keep my table small instead of using the leaf all the time. I also have a tall table which is a catch all right now.. yuck, a curio cabinet that holds treasure (clean and nice) and 4 dog crates. I do not like them in here and I need to start using my laundry room area to put them in, they only use the crates at night.
- Living room (DISASTER) i hate this room – big screen tv and a tv enteratainment center that houses the big screen, two book shelves, computer, two recliners and tall round end table (between recliners) and the kids video games everywhere. This is my messy room for the most part, kids just take over and demolish. They have their own entertainment centers, not sure why they do not use them????? I would like to paint it in a brownish earth tone color, clean up my recliners and then buy a few NICE items to display and leave it alone. Too good to be true?
- entry way and closet, DISASTER, shoes everywhere and of course the closet my daughter has piles of clothes in there all the time, and of course this is where the stairs that lead to their bedrooms are and it just flows down.. yikes
- OK.. the rest of it is bathroom (3) bedrooms (5) and a laundry room.. I have a huge walk in closet that u can not walk into LOL. If i could just get this cleaned out i could use it to store a lot of things, i went on a cleaning spree last year and threw out 3/4th of my clothes, now i have very little hanging but its time to do it again. I dont have a real clothing wardrobe. Hey i think i deserve one..
- My kids do not play with toys much anymore, my daughter has her brats and my son his dinosaurs and cars, but mostly they just have their collection of video games and gaming systems that make a huge mess everywhere. THey are also my litle mess makers – they eat wher they want while we are at work and just destroy the place. They are too old for baby sitters, but maybe they need one.
blah – ok this is it for now, im overwhelmed.
Back to the drawing board.
